Gulmarg, Apr 22 (KNO): Stakeholders in Gulmarg on Wednesday held a candlelight march in solidarity with victims of last year’s Pahalgam tragedy, saying "tourists are our honour".
The march, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), was organised in Tangmarg area, where traders, locals and civil society members gathered to express grief and unity. Participants carried candles and observed silence to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in Pahalgam.
The Pahalgam terror attack last year had led to loss of lives and triggered widespread condemnation across Kashmir. It was seen as a setback to the region’s long-standing image of hospitality and safety for visitors.
“We regret and condemn whatever happened in Pahalgam last year. Tourists are our honour. We urge people to visit. We are available anytime and will be protective,” said a hotelier.
An elderly participant said the people of Kashmir stand for peace. “We condemn the act. We are here in solidarity with the bereaved families. We are peace lovers,” he said.
They said such incidents do not reflect the values of Kashmir, adding that the region has always welcomed tourists with warmth and respect.
“We pray for the safety of our country and Kashmir. We stand with those whose loved ones lost their lives"—(KNO)
